One of our relatives has had a strong feminists streak as of late. We received another email from her, this one was entitled Female Power. I pulled out the images from the email that we liked and posted them here.

9 Words Woman Use

A relative sent me this via email: I don’t know the original author but hey… Since it seems to be yearly review time for this and that at work, I though it was time to pass out the yearly review of what 9 words women use for the guys at home.

  1. Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
  2. Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
  3. Nothing: This is the calm before the storm.  This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.
  4. Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don’t Do It!
  5. Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing.   (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)
  6. That’s Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That’s okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
  7. Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you’re welcome. (I want to add in a clause here – This is true, unless she says “Thanks a lot” – that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all.    DO NOT say “you’re welcome” … that will bring on a “whatever”).
  8. Whatever: Is a women’s way of saying F*CK YOU!
  9. Don’t worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking “What’s wrong?” For the woman’s response refer to # 3.

* Send this to the men you know, to warn them about arguments they can avoid if they remember the terminology.* Send this to all the women you know to give them a good laugh, cause they know it’s true ………….

I can not remember who sent this but I think it was my Aunt.

The Bio-Rad "PCR Song" Music Video

Bio-Rad has a very creative way to promote their thermal cyclers. They made a really cool music video. Anyone who has done PCR will love this! The words are below, but you can download the video & lyrics & send to a friend from the Bio-Rad website.

Bio-Rad Thermal Cyclers

The PCR song link

There was a time when to amplify DNA,
You had to grow tons and tons of tiny cells.

Then along came a guy named Dr. Kary Mullis,
Said you can amplify in vitro just as well.

Just mix your template with a buffer and some primers,
Nucleotides and polymerases, too.

Denaturing, annealing, and extending.
Well it’s amazing what heating and cooling and heating will do.

PCR, when you need to detect mutations.
PCR, when you need to recombine.
PCR, when you need to find out who the daddy is.
PCR, when you need to solve a crime.

(repeat chorus)

Knitting With Balls: A Hands-On Guide to Knitting for the Modern Man Buy From Amazon.com

I was looking for something nice to knit for my man and was quite impressed with this book.  It has a lot of fun ideas; from laptop or ipod covers to neat sweaters and scarves.  It is written so a beginner can follow easily, and has nice figures of how the stitch is supposed to look.  Also has tips for left handers.

X-mas means Advent Calendar Time

Little Polar Bear Christmas Advent Calendar

Little Polar Bear Christmas Advent Calendar Calendar Is one of the cooler calendars out there. Advent calendars usually  have a window marked for each day in December leading up to X-mas; you open a window every day to find a surprise like a picture, or candy or sometimes even money. I don’t know what is under the windows on this particular calendar, but as a kid opening a window each day on the long march up to X-mas sure did help the time go by.
